LECTURES
  • Double exposure
refers to merging multiple images in order to make them surreal, emotional, or humorous.

Using the Tilt-Shift Effect: will transform your photos into soft works of art, like blur one of your photos instead of the entire image.
To add this feature, go to Filter > Blur Gallery > Tilt-Shift.

Create fake Reflection: create double-exposure with the help of a separate window photo.

Experiment with simple portraits and details textured: combining something plain with something complicated will give you a balanced result.

Convert your results to Black & White: it gives you a unique depth and allows you to experiment with something interesting just like film photograph.

Work with silhouette: it would give you a fun and doable challenge.

TUTORIAL

PRACTICAL

  •   PROJECT 1B - PART 1: Hearst Mansion
In this project 1B, we are given 2 images, one is a character and the other building. We created composition of the 2 images following instruction videos. I learned how to cut the image out from back ground using Quick selection tools and how to adjust the selection areas. As for the composition, there was easier ways to create shadow and reflection than I had expected. However, the way to make the Gaussian blur and matching color are a bit confusing for me so I'll try to get used to it.

  • Part 2: Using my own image

In this process, cutting out my own picture using quick select tool first. My height is smaller than Shazam, so I made my images smaller compared to him. Next, To match with background, I adjust color / hue / luminance.

As for the reflection of myself, adjust hue / saturation/ lightness, add ripple in effect because there is my reflection on the water. When I cut out a part that is not needed, I used pen tool and layer mask.

FEEDBACK

Teacher said it's good.

REFLECTIVE WRITING

Adjusting color is very fun for me. When I do this kind of exercise, I should be careful about matching the color, reflection, size, and so on.
