The eyesight leads to the big eye in the center first, but if you take a look closely, you can see the figure wearing the dress. (The principle of figure/ground). The figure coordinated in brown is positioned at the central square of the rule of thirds, making it more attractive and gathering attention. Also, the hem in the black of the dress makes a boundary and creates balance to the blue color. The hem expands outward from the figure at the center (radial balance), which makes your eyesight see outside of elements like typography and small objects in the background. This is related to the hierarchy in the proportion of each object in this poster. The brown part contrasts the harmony of blue colors around it, which emphasizes the center more. Adding small white circle plates in the big circle in the center creates a sense of similarity so that you can tell these belong to the same section (Principle of Similarity in Gestalt Theory).
You can see the approximate symmetry in the background. This is because many small items are clattered around the center, which is almost equivalent to both the vertical and horizontal fulcrum lines. The negative space against the center balanced out this work, giving a neat impression. As for the letters, the product name "N's collection" is bigger compared to the explanation, so you can recognize it as important information. (234 words)
This promotional poster for the color contact brand "N's Collection" is designed to advertise the new color contact release in Japan. There are 3 new color contact lenses: Umi (sea), Sakana (fish), and Blueberry Jam in Fig. 1–2. According to the product description, these colors focus on blue, navy blue, and grayish mauve, respectively. The product concept of N's collection is to enjoy makeup by changing the eye color while preserving the original eyes. The brown part can be interpreted as the original part of the eye. Additionally, the colors of the small objects used are entirely based on the new color contact lenses, making the product's image easier for consumers to understand. The remarkable point of this poster is that even without directly featuring contact lenses, viewers can guess that it is an advertisement related to the eyes, and they can find it aesthetic. Let's compare another promotional poster of color contact. Looking at Fig. 1-3, your eyesight is leading to the person first. At this stage, you can't tell what purpose this has. Also, the information is too simple and straight as a promotional poster, so some might not find the lenses appealing. Therefore, the selected work can successfully grab the attention of customers. | FIg.1-4 sketch 1 |
Figs. 1-4 focus on the golden ratio from both the left and right sides and the principle of figure/ground to make this sketch more attractive, and the viewer focuses on either the contact lens or donut. The concept is about the moment when a donut, which also resembles a contact lens, appears to jump into the eye, emphasizing its connection to the eye. (63 words)

| Fig.1-5 sketch 2 |
Fig.1-5 represents the contrast, especially the tenebrism, using a spotlight that screens the color contact lens. Focusing on the characteristic light against a dark background enhances the strong impact of the lens and its effect on advertisement. Putting similar elements around it leads your eyes to perceive the sense of unity (principle of similarity). In this sketch the golden ratio is used to balance out between the spotlight and person. | Fig.1-6 sketch 3 |
Fig. 1-6 expresses repetition (rhythm) and unity using a few macarons and the same proportion between macarons and eyes to give them a sense of unity in the whole sketch. While looking at her reflection in the mirror, it's open to interpretation whether she is about to eat a macaron or put in colored contacts into her eyes.
