We draw a tarot card as the theme of final project and that was "Your Fears - Temperance." This card represents balance, harmony, and the ability to stay calm and composed. It often shows up when someone is trying to find peace or meet halfway during a stressful or emotional time. But when we look at it through the lens of "fear," the meaning deepens suggesting that fear often comes from being out of balance.
This card reminds us that by returning to a place of inner harmony, we can begin to ease those fears and find clarity again.

At first, we intended to create a story about the quiet fear that can grow between friendship and advancing technology. But as the idea took shape, it shifted a story about the pressure and fear surrounding academic examinations.
After finalizing the storyline, Queena searched for VFX tutorials especially focused on scenes where the character shrinks and is chased by a giant figure, moments that reminded us of
Alice in Wonderland.

While Queena focused on exploring VFX tutorials, I turned my attention to sound and music—searching for pieces that could bridge both realism and an almost “animetic” quality. The goal was to create a distinct contrast between the real world and the dream sequence. To expand our options, I explored both Japanese and English sound libraries.
The sites we used:
- Shot list and Visual Reference

Based on the storyline we created, Queena focused on the shot list and visual references for storyboard and shooting.

Based on the shot list and visual reference Queena created, I choose the some important scene where focuses on the transition, movement and others, and draw them with Ibis Paint.
We started shooting after finalizing everything and used an iPhone 13 with the default camera app for filming. Filming primarily took place in the room and common area at DK Senza, with the location subtly shifting depending on the scene’s setup and lighting requirements.
- Editing - Adobe After Effects
In the process of editing the video clip applied to VFX with Adobe After Effects, we divided the work.

Due to limited storage on my computer, the loading process was quite time-consuming and challenging. For the compositing, I used the Roto Brush Tool to separate the character from the background, creating distinct layers. I paid particular attention for the falling scene, I divided it into two parts: the moment of falling into the hole and the scene after landing. This allowed me to apply different clips for each, ensuring the movement in each scene felt natural and seamless. After we finished the editing, Queena begin to import and arrange the video clips to do overall layout of the clips. Once she finished the tasks, I began to start music, sound effect and overall audio parts.

| The process in Premium Pro (audio part) |
In addition to the sound effects I had originally planned to use, I searched for new music and sounds after reviewing the final video’s transitions and structure. One of the most enjoyable parts was matching the sound of footsteps to the running scene. Since the narration is mostly delivered in a monologue style, I didn’t adjust the pitch, but for the scene where the character falls into the hole, I gradually lowered the volume to match the movement. Finally, I adjusted the overall audio balance to finish.

Fig.2-1 A Sweet Fear
We titled our video "A Sweet Fear" to express a quiet twist—how fear at times is not as frightening as it first seems. At the beginning, the character is filled with anxiety. But what she feared turns out to be something small and kind a piece of candy. The word “sweet” reflects both the candy and the calm that follows fear. Sometimes, fears lose their shape once we gently face them. That gentle contrast is what we hoped to capture.

During this project, I worked together with Queena to complete the task. We were able to respect each other's ideas and perspectives, which allowed us to smoothly develop and organize our concept.
In particular, Queena’s suggestions and viewpoints during the planning and filming stages helped me notice new ways of expression and scene development that I wouldn’t have come up with on my own. This was a valuable learning experience that not only helped me understand her way of thinking, but also made me reflect on my own strengths and weaknesses.
Despite the limited time, we were able to divide tasks effectively and work efficiently. Through this kind of collaboration, I hope to continue expanding my way of thinking. I truly enjoyed working on this project.
