Project 2A: Double Exposure

  • Part 1 - Follow Tutorial

  • Part 2 - Own Portrait Double Exposure

Title: "Music controls the gravity of my emotions."

Final Poster:

Summary:
The word “Music” is transformed into a music note. “Gravity” is floating to represent gravity. Some letters are painted to highlight the letter, and as for the "Emotion," it shows the types of emotions with different shapes of white painting. The “my” is likened to tears.

This poster was inspired by the quote, "Music controls the gravity of my emotions. You have many kinds of emotions and can change them by the music you listen to. The monochorotic person includes the metaphor that music can dye yourself into a variety of colors called different emotions. I associated the word "gravity" with the coldness of outer space and the sky, so I used the cooler color scheme. The moment we feel gravity most closely is when we are falling, so I used photos of a blue sky and hair blowing in the wind, matching the concept color.

Reflection

This project was very interesting, and I enjoyed thinking about the concept. The quote from daily life sounds difficult for me first, but I could express the quotes I choose.

For the thinking layout, I had a few ideas based on references. I thought using  Repition and highlighting one of them would be good. My final work is a bit different from sketches because the teacher told me that the main picture I took was artistic, so it should use main elements. As a result, I changed my original plan. This event made me think about layout again, but it was a good experience as a design student.
As for the process, I try to use double exposure, which is not good at though. I reflected on how to create double exposure and made it better compared to previous exercises. In addition, it was hard to think about places I put the main elements while considering typography, but I tried to apply propotion techniques like the golden ratio.

Through this assignment, I learned how to create a poster, think of ways of expression, and compose. Also, I realized once again the importance of reviewing and practicing what I have learned.
